I have a PhD from UC Berkeley. I worked on the German and Yiddish avant garde. I wrote my dissertation on Else Lasker-Schüler's publications in expressionist periodicals from 1910-1914.
I am also a translator. I have experience with both literary and document translation, but I specialize in translating historical documents. I primarily take on historical family documents (letters & the like) with a focus on Jewish German documents from the first half of the 20th century. My expertise with both Yiddish and German and the cultural background of German Jewish culture make me able to deeply understand these documents and explain the stories they tell to the letter writers' relatives.
